Who Needs a Trade License?
Whether your business is big or small, registration is compulsory. Here are a few examples:
- Small shops and vendors
- Food stalls, hotels, and cafés
- Warehouses and godowns
- Factories and manufacturing units
- Offices and service firms
In short, every trader operating from a physical place must get this license
Here’s a list of the main documents:
- PAN Card of the applicant
- Aadhaar Card or Voter ID
- Rent agreement or property tax receipt
- NOC from the building owner (if rented)
- Passport-size photo
- GST registration certificate (if available)
- Business layout or site plan
- Any other license (food, pollution, fire, etc. if applicable
Below is an approximate fee structure:
Small shop (up to 100 sq. ft.)- Rs 500 to Rs 1000
Medium store (100-300 sq. ft.)- Rs 1000 to Rs 2000
Large outlets (above 300 sq. ft.)- Rs 2000 to Rs 5000
